Princethorpe College Open Events

Open Day - Sunday 4 October 2020 10.00am to 3.00pm

Princethorpe College is planning on holding an Open Day on Sunday 4 October from 10.00am to 3.00pm. The day will be split into three hour-long sessions and visitors will be asked to book a specific session, so we can manage numbers and adhere to government guidelines.

This event is aimed at families who have not had the chance to visit the College previously and have a prospective pupil for Years 7 to 10 specifically interested in September 2021 entry. A maximum of two family members will be able to attend with the prospective pupil.

Each session will open with a Welcome Address by our Headmaster, Ed Hester and then visitors will follow a route around key school locations.

Light takeaway refreshments will be available.

At the moment, under the coronavirus restrictions, we are unable to welcome visitors into school on normal school days.

Depending on the developing situation we are planning a second Open Morning later in the Michaelmas Term. The Open Morning is scheduled for Thursday 26 November 2020 from 10.30am to 12.30pm and again will be by appointment only.

Crescent School Autumn Open Events

Wednesday 7 October 2020 - 09.00am to 4.00pm

The Crescent School, the Foundation's junior school for 4 to 11 year olds in Bilton, Rugby, is opening its doors for an Open Day on Wednesday 7 October from 09.00am - 4.00pm by appointment only. This is an opportunity to look around the school on a normal working day and to meet the school's Headmaster, Joe Thackway.  The school is now accepting registrations for admission to current Reception, where this year there are two classes and Reception, Year 1 and Year 3 in 2021. There are a very small number of places available in other years - where year groups are full, there are waiting groups.  

The Crescent is also planning to hold a Reception and Pathfinders Nursery Open Evening on Tuesday 17 November between 7.00pm and 8.00pm, which will give parents an insight into the Early Years at Crescent and the firm foundation the school gives children for their future learning. Pathfinders, the on-site partner nursery, which has been rated ‘outstanding’ by OFSTED, will also be open on the evening should parents wish to visit. Once again this will be an appointment only event.

Crackley Hall and Little Crackers Open Events

Thursday 8 October 2020 - 9.00am to 4.00pm

Crackley Hall School and Little Crackers Nursery, in Kenilworth, are opening their doors for an Open Day on Thursday 8 October from 9.00am - 4.00pm by appointment only.

This is an opportunity to look around the school on a normal working day and to meet the school's Headmaster, Rob Duigan. The school is now accepting registrations for admission to Reception, Year 1 and Year 3 in 2021. There are a very small number of places available in other years - where year groups are full, there are waiting groups.  

Thursday 19 November - 7.00pm to 8.00pm

Crackley Hall School will also be holding a Nursery and Reception Open Evening on Thursday 19 November between 7.00pm and 8.00pm, which will give parents an insight into the Early Years at Crackley Hall and Little Crackers.  Mrs Susan Glen-Roots, the Assistant Head for Early Years, will be on hand, as well as the rest of the Reception and Little Crackers Team. This event will also be by appointment only.

Princethorpe Sixth Form Open Evening

Wednesday 14 October 2020 - 6.30pm to 9.00pm

The College will be holding a Sixth Form Open Evening aimed at Year 11 pupils and their parents who do not currently attend Princethorpe on Wednesday 14 October from 6.30pm to 9.00pm.

The evening will be split into two hour-long sessions and visitors will be asked to book a specific session, so we can manage numbers and adhere to government guidelines. To book a place at the event please click here.

This event is aimed at prospective Sixth Formers who are interested in September 2021 entry to the college.  A maximum of two family members will be able to attend with the prospective Sixth Former.

Each session will comprise a presentation by the Headmaster, Ed Hester and Head of Sixth Form, Ben Collie, including key events and dates in the Sixth Form application process, A-level and BTEC subject information and general information on the Sixth Form experience at Princethorpe.  

Visitors will also be able to follow a tour route around key school locations. There will be a further virtual aspect to the evening when candidates will be able to view pre-recorded introductions to the subjects they are interested in by the Heads of Department.

Princethorpe's own Year 11s will have a Virtual Sixth Form Open Evening on the same date.

Princethorpe College Year 6 Taster Experiences

Saturday 7 November and Saturday 14 November
9.00am to 12.15pm and 1.30pm to 4.45pm

During the Michaelmas Term the College is holding taster experiences for children currently in Year 6 (children born between 1 September 2009 and 31 August 2010), who are interested in admission to the College in September 2021.

There will be four sessions over two dates - Saturday 7 November and Saturday 14 November. Places will be limited and need to be booked.

Each session will involve a welcome introduction from Headmaster, Mr Hester and the chance to experience two taster lessons with a small group of 10-12 other children. The sessions will be carefully managed to adhere to social distancing and government guidelines.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Princethorpe College PTA Christmas Fair

Due to the continuing COVID-19 restrictions this year's Princethorpe College Christmas Fair has unfortunately had to be cancelled.

The PTA are hoping to arrange a different event and details will be shared once they are confirmed.

 

Sixth Form Taster Days

The College is planning specific Sixth Form Taster Days for December 2020 and January 2021 for external Year 11 pupils who might be interested in joining us for Sixth Form in September 2021.

Prospective Sixth Formers will get the chance to attend lessons over the course of the day (sitting in on current Lower Sixth lessons), plus have time for an informal Question and Answer session with current students, a tour of the College, a short interview with Ben Collie, our Head of Sixth Form, along with time in the Sixth Form Centre for lunch and breaks.

Princethorpe College Entrance Examinations

Entrance Examinations for Year 7 to 10 entry in September 2021 will take place on Saturday 23 January 2021 from 9.30am to 3.30pm.

All candidates must be registered before sitting the entrance examinations. Registrations, bursary and scholarship applications must be received by the deadline of Friday 4 December 2020 to allow us to process the registration and contact schools for references

Following receipt of the registration form, any candidate with a learning need will have an assessment with Lorna Prestage, our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator, prior to the entrance examination. In this instance, early submission of the registration form is advised in order that this appointment can be made in good time. 

Old Princethorpians' Events Calendar 2020-21

The OPs' events calendar offers plenty of opportunities for past pupils, former parents, staff and friends of the College and the Foundation schools to catch up.

This year some events are being run virtually, but the popular Pub Meets and Summer Reunion, are booked and we very much hope they will be able to go ahead.

All alumni, former staff and parents of Princethorpe College, St Bede's, St Mary's Priory, St Joseph's School, Crackley Hall, Abbotsford and Crescent School are welcome to participate in any or all of the events.
