Princethorpe College Open Events And Taster Days

Open Morning - Thursday 18 April - 10.30am - 12.30pm

The College's Open Morning will give prospective families looking for a place in September 2025, a chance to visit the school on a normal working day, with Year 8 and 9 pupils acting as tour guides. The Leadership and Admissions Teams will be available to answer any questions visitors might have. Light refreshments will be available.

Open Evening - Wednesday 5 June - 6.30pm - 8.30pm

The College's annual Summer Open Evening will take place on Wednesday 5 June from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. This is an informal opportunity to look around the school, for children to take part in departmental activities and to meet members of staff and pupils. The Headmaster will also address visitors during the evening. Light refreshments will be available.

Year 5 Taster Days

Wednesday 8 May, Tuesday 14 May, Tuesday 11 June, Thursday 13 June and Wednesday 19 June 2024.

Aimed at prospective Year 5 pupils, our Taster Days are a great way for your child to really experience Princethorpe during a normal school day.

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Crackley Hall School And Little Crackers Nursery Open Evening

Thursday 9 May - 5.00pm to 7.00pm

Are you looking for a Nursery place for September 2024 or a Reception place for September 2025? If so Crackley Hall School and Little Crackers Nursery, the Foundation prep school and nursery in Kenilworth, are holding an Open Evening on Thursday 9 May from 5.00pm, where you can find out more. 

The evening will consist of a welcome from our Headmaster, Rob Duigan, and a guided tour around the Nursery and school. This is a great opportunity for prospective families to get a feel for the school and to meet staff and pupils.

Princethorpe Say Hello To Hockey

Saturday 11 May 2024 9.30am to 12.00pm

If you'd love to give hockey a try, why not come along to the Princethorpe College 'Year 4 and 5 Say Hello To Hockey' taster session!

This activity is open to children who do not attend a Foundation Prep School.

A morning of free hockey training on our astroturf, you'll learn new skills, make friends and have fun.  Aimed at girls and boys, the morning will finish with a mini tournament, beginners most welcome!

Crescent School Open Evening

Tuesday 14 May - 5.00pm to 7.00pm

Are you looking for a Reception or Year 3 place for September 2025? If so Crescent School, the Foundation prep school in Bilton, Rugby, will be hosting an Open Evening on Tuesday 14 May from 5.00pm to 7.00pm for prospective families and pupils.

In terms of availability, Reception and Year 3 for 2024 entry are now full, with waiting groups. We are now taking registrations for Reception and Year 3 entry in 2025 and beyond. 

In other years we have very limited availability or are operating waiting groups.

The 2024 National Schools' And Riding Clubs' Two Day Event

Saturday 25 May – Sunday 26 May 2024

The National Schools’ and Riding Clubs' Two Day Event, sponsored by The Wigley Group, will once again take place on the Princethorpe estate.

It includes classes at 70cm, 80cm, 90cm and 100cm for Riding Club and School team and individual competitors. There are also Independent Schools' Association Classes.

Show Jumping and Dressage take place on the Saturday with Roads and Tracks, Steeplechase and Cross Country on the Sunday.

The only event of its kind in the UK, the two-day event regularly attracts up to 300 riders.

Spectators are most welcome to come along and enjoy a wonderful weekend of equestrian competition.

New Pupils Induction Day And Information Fair

Wednesday 26 June 2024 - 9.00am to 4.45pm

(Presentation to Parents and Information Fair from 3.30pm to 4.30pm)

The Induction Day for new pupils starting at the College in September 2024 will take place on Wednesday 26 June 2024. The day will consist of two separate events. The new pupils should arrive at school in their current school uniform for 9.00am, but no earlier than 8.45am and can be dropped off by the Sports Hall where they will be met by the Registrars.

They will spend the day getting to know Mrs Susan Harris, Head of Transition and Induction, their Head of House, meet their new Vertical Tutor Group and their teaching group. Refreshments at break and lunch will be provided.

Parents should return to the Sports Hall at 3.15pm for a prompt start at 3.30pm for their own talks and an Information Fair. Parking will be in the Orchard. There will be an introductory address by the Headmaster, Mr du Toit, and senior staff, after which parents will have the opportunity to visit the Information Fair.

The Fair comprises the following;

  • Bus services
  • Music lessons 
  • Medical matters 
  • Catering
  • Parent Teacher Association 
  • Uniform - book your appointment for the shop

Following the Fair you will be rejoined by your son or daughter for refreshments outside when there will be a further opportunity to chat with Mrs Harris, the Heads of House and other members of staff.  The day will finish around 4.45pm.

Year 7 Activity Day - Monday 2 September 2024 - 9.30am to 4.00pm

The incoming Year 7 children will get a further opportunity to get to know the College and each other a little better on their Activity Day on Monday 2 September, just before term begins on Tuesday 3 September.

 

Summer Art, Photography and Design Show 2024

Thursday 27 June from 6.00pm to 8.30pm and Sunday 30 June from 2.00pm to 4.30pm

A celebration of our pupils GCSE and A-level Art, Photography and Design work will take place on Thursday 27 June from 6.00pm to 8.30pm and on Sunday 30 June from 2.00pm to 4.30pm.

The event, which is part of the Warwickshire Open Studios Summer Art Weeks 2024, includes a range of design technology projects, from resistant materials to textiles, alongside the stunning art and photography work which the College is renowned for.

Comments, Paul Hubball, Head of Art, "This is a great opportunity to share our pupils' fantastic creativity with a wider audience and to welcome more art and design lovers to Princethorpe."

Added Head of Design Technology, Paul Scopes, "We look forward to welcoming all the exam pupils and their families from across Design, Art and Photography to enjoy the fruit of their labours."

All are welcome. On Thursday evening admission is free, on the Sunday admission will be £2 per car including entry to the College's Summer Fete and Motoring Festival.

Princethorpe PTA Summer Fete And Annual Motoring Festival 2024

Sunday 30 June - 2.00pm to 4.30pm

The College's PTA Summer Fete is held in the Orchard with lots of entertainment for children and adults alike, alongside traditional stalls, refreshments, activities and competitions.

Annual Motoring Festival

One of the highlights of the School Calendar is the Annual Motoring Festival. The Motoring Festival coincides with the Summer Fête and is open to anyone keen to bring any sort of classic, vintage, veteran or interesting vehicle along for the afternoon. There are rally plaques for all vehicles pre-booked by Saturday 1 June 2024 and there are awards for self-judged competitions. Please email motorfest@princethorpe.co.uk to be added to the Motoring Festival interest database.

Princethorpe College Entrance Examinations

Entrance Examinations for Year 7 to 10 entry to Princethorpe College in September 2025 will take place on Saturday 9 November 2024 from 9.30am to 3.30pm.
